Freestyle Friday - Which Element of Your Papercraft Project Do You Choose First?

Hi Everyone! It's Freestyle Friday and I'm also very excited that Stampin' Up is holding a Regional right here this weekend! Today's question is what element of your papercraft project do you choose first. Are you thinking about a certain sketch, layout or theme? Do you decide on the embellishments you will be using? Or do you naturally gravitate to the paper your project will be made from?
So many elements, so many products! I cannot tell you the number of times I've lost my crafting "mojo", because I didn't know where to start first. Also, I would buy too much paper or embellishments that I would never use again. Fortunate for me, I was introduced into Stampin' Up. Besides the quality of the products, one of the main reasons I'm "addicted", is because everything coordinates for you. The papers, inks, ribbons, and other accessories come in color families that mix and match!
For me, I usually begin my project with a theme or sketch and go from there. What about you? Don't forget to leave a comment, you might just be surprised!

  1. Great questions, Lisa. I start with my focal point (digital/stamped image) and then look for paper, as that is how I will color it. I'm looking forward to being on your hostess program (mailed my contract back to you) so that I can have those papers because it is a chore to decide what goes with what and like you said SU products make it easy! Happy Friday! ;D

  2. First I decide on the occasion/theme of the card or project. Next, I usually choose my paper(s) and go from there adding embelishments as needed.

    Happy Friday everyone!

  3. I first decide the occasion (birthday, thank you, etc.). I then decide which stamp set! Then I choose paper and embellishments such as ribbon, brads, etc. It is so hard for me to do it any other way because I get overwhelmed with so much stuff choose from!
