Try It Thursday - Stampin' Up Dia De Los Muertos Card (Day Of The Dead Card)
Thursday, October 31, 2013
Happy Halloween Everyone! My Try It Thursday share is a card that celebrates the Mexican Holiday, Dia De Los Muertos. On November 1st and 2nd, families gather together to build alters and bring gifts to honor those who have passed on. These gifts include sugar skulls, chocolate, marigolds (the Mexican flower of death), sweetbreads, and trinkets. Families also typically visit graves to deliver the ofrendas, or "offerings", and hold vigils with candles and photos. For my card, I used the Stampin' Up Halloween Hello stamp set and the Stampin' Up Witches' Brew Washi Tape. I then added a punched flower, ribbon, and Candy Dots to finished it off. Not to be confused with Halloween, Dia De Los Muertos is a holiday rich in history and beautifully celebrated to remember deceased loved ones.
